With the full release of The Tenants finally on the horizon, today we’re releasing the biggest major update in the history of our Early Access journey – the Manhattan Update. It’s definitely the largest release so far in terms of both the content and features, and the work on some of it started all the way back in the summer of 2021. The last few weeks were pretty stressful for the whole team at AFS as we were nearing the final deadline, but we’re excited to get the new district out into the wild and see what the community thinks of it.
As it happens in some games, when the developers are forced to rush the final stages of the development, the last few worlds/areas have the least polish of all the levels in the game. We didn’t want to fall for that trap, and to be honest we might’ve even gone a little overboard with the scope of Manhattan. As it’s the designated late-game area, we wanted to introduce some new mechanics that’ll strengthen the core gameplay. Thus we’ve decided to add the whole property classifications which allow the players to rent their Manhattan apartments to companies, instead of regular tenants.
Apart from that we’re also adding new progression related systems. One of them are the Target Cards that provide smaller goals to work towards at all points of the game. The other are the new pickups and collectibles that we’ve placed all over Wondersville. They’ll go hand in hand with the gorgeous Manhattan environment in enticing the players to explore their surroundings instead of just jumping from one apartment to the next one.

We hope that you will enjoy the Manhattan Update and that it ties most of the loose ends in terms of the gameplay and progression. Meanwhile, we’ll get some rest and get back to work on the hotfix patches.
